Birthday Beloved

Born on a cold January morning,

before the soft sun’s rise

on a New Year’s Day,

wailed the love of my life.

They grew with each changing

of the year, blowing out

the burning birthday candles

as they giggled in delight.

A yearly tradition celebrated

by the whole world unknowingly.

My beloved’s birthday is a

day of universal joy and renewal.

Safely nestled between blankets

and home, newly painted the shade

of their countryside future. Here’s

to another adventurous year with you.
